CTIJF Music Business Workshop 2017

Today was the CTIJF Music Business workshop and it was a great experience. So many young people flocked over to the Cape Sun Hotel eager to receive information from the music professionals. The theme was "Back to basics".

Darren English, Sado Twala, Bev Scott Brown and Nat Adderly were some famous faces that attended this workshop. I could barely contain my excitement seeing them share their experiences with the crowd.

The CTIJF Jazz Festival also officially started today. The Press conference continued and the artists answered more questions about their music and performances.

CTIJF Press Conference 2017

Today I attended the CTIJF Press Conference. We were able to meet many interesting musicians and we had to chance to ask them questions.

After arriving, I couldn't resist taking some pictures for my social media accounts.

The Press conference was held at the Cape Sun Hotel and it started at 10pm. The artists were asked many interesting questions about their musical influences and the struggles they faced while trying to make it in the industry.

Saint Jude, a local female rapper, spoke about the struggles she faced in trying to make it as a rapper. She said that she is proud of herself for not changing to meet any expectations. Se also mentioned that she is not exactly where she wants to be in her career yet, but after two years of hard work, she has finally made it. As an online influence and talented female rapper, I'd say she is truly an inspiration to us all!

CTIJF Free concert 2017

The Cape Town International Jazz Festival Free concert was a great experience. I was very excited to attend this event, as jazz music has been a firm Souht African favourite for so many years.

My group and I decided to promote the Music Business workshop at the free concert. We handed out flyers and even ran into a City Press journalist and informed him about the workshop.

The music was relaxing, and hundreds of people gathered and enjoyed themselves. It was a great evening.

Tickets are still available for the Jazz festival www.capetownjazzfest.com

CTIJF Public Debate 2017

The Public Debate was a very informative event. The panelists were very clued up about the topic of decolonization and made the audience think.

The event was packed with individuals, all eager to voice their opinions. It was quite interesting as there were so many people of different age groups and walks of life all there for the same reason : to debate this issue.

I posted some of my views to Twitter and joined in on the conversation. South Africa does have some issues where education is concerned. After leaving the debate, I thought more about this issue.
